Built in 2007, this is the third pool designed by wetlandPOOLS. The 15m lap pool runs diagonally through the back garden and is used as a training pool. The pool is a raised facebrick structure with a triangular wetland behind it. Shortly after the pool was constructed, the clients renovated their house so that all of their rooms open out onto the patio along the pool and built an outdoor lounge next to the pool. This has become the primary family space.
The pool is home to a small school of well-camouflaged Tilapia. Every winter the ten or so fish produced a few hundred babies, attracting Hadeda’s and other fishing birds to the pool.
